Squirrel Games
My wife recently purchased a bird feeder and it looked very nice mounted on our porch with its nice looking black iron bracket. One of the first discoverers of this was Mr. Squirrel:

This was very easy pickings for him and he set up house keeping right next to the feeder. This was not acceptable.
So, I installed a less attractive, but very effective pole with a squirrel baffler.
Mr. Squirrel, being pretty smart, has discovered he can make a circus quality leap from the old bracket to the top of the new pole where it bends horizontally. This is not without challenge as the footing is not good and when he slips, the acrobatics before he hits the ground are absolutely hysterical.
Here he is about to make his leap.

When he is successful, he still has the challenge of getting to the feeder. This is quite at "stretch" for him.

He is unable to get more than a few mouthfuls before falling to the ground again. Great fun watching this.
AND Then.... a nice buck deer discovered the feeder and was chowing down on
it. To solve this,
I had to install it on a beam with a long metal string which defeated the deer
and the squirrels.
